FERRARI is not just a machine or a car, it’s a myth that enchants everyone, wherever you are. It is the object of desire of most mortals living on this planet. The Italian brand usually says that it does not sell cars, it sells a dream. The comparison of the machines built in Maranello with rare and exclusive jewels is not an exaggeration, such an exclusivity. And all identified by a simple black horse. It is impossible to speak in the creature without mentioning its great creator: Comendattori Enzo Anselmo Ferrari. Born on February 18, 1898, in the Italian city of Modena, Enzo Ferrari wanted to be an opera singer or competition driver. He quickly gave up being a singer for lack of voice and hearing. Only the second option remained. After being a mechanic, in 1919 decided to be a pilot and participated in a race (for the first time) in Parma Bercetto, where he was placed fourth (the race was won by Antonio Ascari, father of Alberto Ascari, who was to die behind the wheel of a FERRARI).

In the following years worked for Alfa Romeo like competition pilot, being later responsible for the division of auto competitions. On November 16, 1929, he did what history consecrated as his great masterstroke: he created the Scuderia Ferrari, the first independent motorsport team in the factories, but linked to Alfa Romeo. Initially the company did not produce automobiles, it only sponsored riders and race cars already manufactured. Enzo Ferrari left Alfa Romeo, founded on September 13, 1939, in the city of Modena, Auto AvioCostruzione and spent the Second World War manufacturing agricultural equipment and even cars. The first car built entirely by him, made during the conflict, was named Model 815, because he could not put his last name in any car, Only in 1946, after the end of the world-wide conflict and the fall of the regime of Mussolini, he constructed the first car of race that took its last name: the  Ferrari F125S. And it amazed the world by developing in a precarious facility, but with a competent and enthusiastic team, an engine as powerful as the V12 that equipped it, something very advanced for the time. The model debuted with victory in the Grand Prix of Rome, disputed around the Baths of Caracalla, 25 of May of 1947, piloted by Franco Cortese. Since then, FERRARI has obtained more than five thousand victories in auto exams. At this point, Commander Enzo started building some cars to sell to customers, just enough to finance his racing team. In 1951 he managed his first Formula 1 victory at the Silverstone circuit with driver José Froilán González. And in 1956 the brand story would change radically. The Argentine pilot Juan Manuel Fangio would conquer the world-wide title riding a FERRARI.

Although the successful partnership between the renowned Pininfarina design studio and FERRARI began in 1952 with FERRARI F212, it was only in 1959 that the first model resulting from this union was effectively seen by the world. This year the first FERRARI with the signature Pininfarina, the F250 GT SWB, was presented at the Paris Salon and produced two years later in a series limited to 200 units. Despite this, in 1961 times began to become difficult for FERRARI, after internal conflicts that led to the departure of several members of the upper management. The automaker, however, has managed to achieve a large number of victories in major competitions and raise its name in the automotive scene. In parallel to the competitions, FERRARI developed and commercialized super sports cars that increasingly became dreams for the richest men in the world. All technology developed on the tracks was transferred or adapted to their sports, whose design, in addition to visually enchanting, had a sensational performance. And this is due to the collaboration between the designer Sergio Pininfarina (1926-2012) and FERRARI. In 1969, with the company facing several economic problems, FIAT bought 50% of its shares, thus ensuring that FERRARI did not become a popular brand. In the 1970s, as the costs of the escuderia started to rise rapidly, it increased the number of FERRARI cars for sale. With this operation, the company in Maranello began to grow exponentially, the factory was expanded, the test track was built in Fiorano and dozens of operations attached, such as a wind tunnel, autoclaves, computerized design and crash test simulator.

August 14, 1988 was a black day for the brand, when at age 90, Commander Enzo left the world and FERRARI, which manufactured and sold sports cars just to cover the costs of the Formula 1 team. With the death of the Commander and the appointment of a former employee, Mr. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, to take on the responsibility of making FERRARI a modern and profitable company, which was a real revolution in the 1990s. One of his first actions was to hire the Frenchman Jean Todt to restructure the team of Formula 1, making it return to the glorious times. The result: the team resurfaced from the ashes in 1997, when German driver Michael Schumacher won the runner-up by driving the red car; and car sales grew like never seen before in the following years. In addition, in 1997 FERRARI acquired 50% of Maserati, gaining full control of the brand in 1999. FERRARI continued to achieve great achievements in the automobile competition, managing to win Formula 1 in the constructors category from 1999 to 2004 with riders Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. At the end of 2015 FERRARI opened its capital on the Stock Exchange, thus becoming an independent company of the group FCA Fiat Chrysler. The Italian company raised $ 893 million in its IPO, whose event featured eight coveted brand machines parked on Wall Street and a legion of curious onlookers. According to executives, FERRARI is a strong brand, with its own brilliance, and alone has a chance to become an even more valued brand. Piero Ferrari, son of Commander Enzo, has a 10% stake in the automaker. The power of a FERRARI is so much that in 2016, a legendary car of the 1957 brand was sold for $ 35 million, an absolute record for a car sold at auction. It was the F335S Spider, driven in the 24 hours of Le Mans by British rider Mike Hawthorn.

Evolution of some myths

Since the 1940s, technology transfer from racing cars to street sports is a reality. Throughout the history of FERRARI, just over 150 models have been launched in the international market. In the 40’s, Enzo Ferrari was literally divided between competition and commercial models. Therefore, the first street car was launched only in 1948: the luxury coupe F166 Inter. The partnership between the Italian automaker and the Pininfarina design studio was consolidated with a large crop of cars between the 80s and 90s: Testarossa, F512TR, GTO and F348TB, F456GT 2 + 2, F355 Berlinetta, F355 Spider, F50, F550 Maranello , F456M, F360 Modena, F360 Spider and F456GT.

2020 – FERRARI F8 TRIBUTE

Offering 720 hp and a specific power of 185 hp / liter, the F8 Tribute displays the most powerful V8 engine in the history of Ferrari’s standard cars, making it the F488 GTB’s replacement for the fastest-engineered central-engine Ferrari ever. The 3.9-liter V8 engine produces 720 hp and 770 Nm of torque, and puts the F8 Tribute at the level of the special edition F488 Track, offering 50 hp more than the GTB. With 40 pounds less than the F488 GTB, the F8 Tribute accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km / h in 7.8 seconds, with a top speed of 340 km / h. The name of the F488 GTB replacement refers to the fact that the car has two seats and uses the most powerful V8 installed in a Ferrari road car. With a style that the Maranello brand describes as a “bridge to the new language of style that will continue to emphasize the characteristics of Ferrari: high performance and extreme aerodynamic efficiency.” The front of the car shows an ‘S-Duct’, a solution that debuted on the F488 Track and was redesigned in the F8 Tribute, and this device alone contributes a downforce increase of 15% compared to the values ​​displayed by the F488 GTB. The new front lights are compact and allow the air intakes for the brakes to be well integrated to improve airflow. The F8 Tributo’s aerodynamic package adopts several solutions from the F488 Track for better thermal management of the engine compartment. The F8 Tribute has improved aerodynamic efficiency by 10% over the F488 GTB and is equipped with the latest version of Ferrari Slid Slip Angle Control, a kind of drift mode. The F8 Tribute also pays homage to the F40, one of the most iconic cars of the Italian brand, with a ribbed Lexan engine cover. The rear taillights mark the return to a style detail of the 1975 GTB, 1975, being round and with a pair of each side of the body. The Ferrari F8 Tribute will be unveiled in Geneva and only in the hall will be given more concrete details about the car, such as pricing and release date.

2019 – FERRARI F488 TRACK

Once they have leaked the first images, the Italian manufacturer has decided to officially reveal the Ferrari F488 track before its world premiere scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show 2018. This is a more radical version of the F488 GTB, which includes technology derived from competition , a lower weight, a more powerful motor and a regulation for circuit. In addition to its aesthetic attributes, the most interesting is the technology built into the F488 Track, which inherits many elements of the F488 GTE and F488 Challenge. The engine is a 3.9-liter biturbo V8, which develops 720 horsepower, with a maximum torque of 770 Nm at 3,000 rpm, numbers that make it the most powerful V8 engine ever developed by Ferrari. The performance of the new Ferrari F488 Track is sensational, since it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.85 seconds and reach a top speed of 340 km / h and can accelerate from 0 to 200 km / h in only 7.6 seconds. Among the available technologies are the electronic differential E-Diff3 and the so-called Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, which controls with absolute precision the pressure of each of the brake calipers, the F1-Trac traction control and the SCM suspension. Externally, the Ferrari F488 Track incorporates several modifications in the bodywork compared to the conventional model. Among them is a front part that has been completely renovated, but its main external modifications are functional, since aerodynamics, air ducts and airfoils have been revised to achieve a better dynamic behavior, including the exit of air on the hood front. In addition, its weight has been reduced by 90 kilos, thanks in large part to elements made of carbon fiber, a component that is present in several sectors of the body, such as side skirts, bumper, rear aerofoil, entrances air and even wheels.
